Ifugao products to be displayed in Baguio
City officials approved the request of the Federation of Ifugao Brethren for the conduct of a promotional activity to showcase their local products on November 18 to December 18, 2022 at Perfecto St., Malcolm Square barangay subject to conditions.
Under Resolution No. 543, series of 2022, local legislators approved this request upon the recommendation of the Committee on Market, Trade and Commerce and Agriculture as per its 4th indorsement dated November 11, 2022 subject to conditions.
Among the conditions that were imposed by the local legislative body include that there should be no obstruction fronting U-Need Supermarket and PS Bank, especially along their delivery and parking area; private vehicles are not allowed to park or enter Perfecto St.; no loading and unloading of stall goods inside Perfecto St. premises to avoid obstructions, delivery trucks shall park outside the bollards or barriers adjacent to the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Malcolm Square branch; maximum of 15 stalls shall be allowed to avoid overcrowding in the area; the association shall secure barangay business clearance; the association shall secure clearance from the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) if within the parks or clearance from the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) if outside the parks; the association shall secure clearance from the City Health Services Office (CHSO) for food stalls; the association shall pay business taxes; the association shall submit stall plan, sketch only, showing smooth flow of human traffic at the entrance and exit and the association shall follow minimum public health and safety standards.
Earlier, David M. Dumangeng, president of the Federation of Ifugao Brethren, in his letter dated October 26, 2022, requested permission from the city government to conduct a promotion activity to promote their local products on November 18 to December 8, 2022 at Perfecto St., Malcolm Square to help them recover from their losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event will help support some of their province mates who are in need of financial assistance after having been heavily impacted by the ongoing pandemic.
In his letter dated November 3, 2022, Malcolm Square punong barangay Hadji Imran A. Baniaga interposed no objection to the requested use of the said area as long as the city council will approve a resolution to the said effect and that the association pay the corresponding barangay tax.
In his letter dated November 14, 2022, Allan Abayao, licensing officer and head, City Permits and Licensing Division–City Mayor’s Office, recommended approval of the fund raising activity subject to compliance by the association with certain requirements needed in securing special permits, such as barangay resolution approving the activity; barangay business clearance; city council approval of the barangay resolution; clearance from the CPMO, if within the parks, or clearance from the CPDO if outside the parks; clearance from the CHSO for food stalls; payment of business tax; to submit stall plan showing smooth flow of human traffic and follow minimum public health and safety standards. – Dexter A.
