Bureau of Customs jumpstarts 2021 January collection with +P3.051B

MANILA, Feb. 2 — In spite of the devastating effects of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 to the overall trading environment, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) managed to collect P47.143 billion against its P44.092 billion January 2021 collection target, posting a surplus of P3.051 biliion or 6.92%

Based on the preliminary report from the BOC-Financial Service, eleven out of the seventeen collection districts surpassed its January 2021 collection target, namely: Ports of Manila, NAIA, Batangas, Legazpi, Iloilo, Tacloban, Cagayan De Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, and Clark.

In 2020, the bureau exceeded its annual revenue collection target by 6.6% or P33.5 billion, collecting P539.7 billion against its P506.2 billion target. Indeed, the bureau continues to improve its efficient collection performance through intensified efforts of all its ports, not to mention, the improvement in volume of importation, as well as the government’s effort in ensuring unhampered movement of goods, while maintaining border security and enhanced trade facilitation.

BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero commended the efforts of the men and women of the Bureau of Customs who, despite the risk to their health and safety, showed their unwavering commitment and dedication to service during an executive committee meeting. (BOC)
