240 teams sign up for 72nd Fil-Am Golf Tourney

Some two hundred forty teams from the Asia-Pacific region had signed up for the 72nd edition of the Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament which will be held at the Baguio Country Club (BCC) and Camp John Hay (CJH) fairways from November 23 to December 11, 2022.

Further, there are still 107 teams that had been placed by the organizers under the waiting list depending on the status of the teams that had earlier signed up for the 2-week golf tournament.

The number of teams that had signed up for the 72nd edition of the competition is 16 teams short of the 256 teams that competed in the pre-pandemic edition of the tournament held in 2019.

The annual Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament is the longest running amateur golf competition in the Asia-Pacific region according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The practice rounds for the seniors division will be held on November 23-25, 2022 followed with the ceremonial tee off in both the BCC and CJH golf courses in the afternoon of November 25, 2022 in preparation for the competition proper scheduled on November 26 to December 1, 2022.

On the other hand, the practice rounds for the regular division will be held on December 3-5, 2022 followed by the ceremonial tee off in both courses in the afternoon of December 5, 2022 in preparation for the competition proper on December 6-11, 2022.

Organizers had designated December 2, 2022 as the rest day which falls in between the seniors and regular competitions to allow these groups to assess and evaluate the situation.

Golfers who will be able to have a hole-in-one in the designated holes in both courses will be rewarded with brand new cars provided by sponsors.

The Fil-Am Golf Foundation, the organizer of the annual tournament, remains committed in supporting the overall development of golf in the north with the provision of the needed assistance to the growth of junior golf. – Dexter A. See
