Ballet Baguio lauded for winning 2 bronzes in Asian Grand Prix

City officials congratulated and commended Ballet Baguio for winning two bronze medals at the 2022 Asian Grand Prix International Ballet competition.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that the recent success of the group continues to bring honor and pride not only to the members but also to the people and officialdom of the city.

The Asian Grand Prix International Ballet competition is an educational journey for young ballet dancers, primarily in the Asia-Pacific region, to demonstrate their talents and learn from international dance experts.

Further, outstanding dancers are recognized by awards and scholarships to assist them with their dance training and career development.

The Asian Grand Prix International Ballet Competition is the most prestigious ballet competition in Asia.

Ballet Baguio which is the premier classical dance school in North Luzon that aims to develop young dancers and prepare them to be successful artists is one of the competitors in this international ballet competition.

Moreover, Ballet Baguio won 2 bronze medals: one for the senior classical solo and one for the group dance category.

The bronze medal for the dance solo competition was awarded to Michel Jullianne Grace Quan for her performance of ‘Gamzatti variation’ while another bronze medal was awarded to the group for their performance of the ‘Awakening’ choreographed by Baguio Ballet artistic director Jacqueline Go-Ramon for their entry to the group dance category.

The dancers for the group dance category were Michel Jullianne Grace Quan, Phoeboa Rei Buen, Shelly Camille Esguerra and Keri Kasandra Villegas. – Dexter A. See
