Educational assistance for 37 unpaid grantees, approved

Acting City Mayor Faustino Olowan signed city council ordinance no. 63, series of 2022, approving the request for authority to charge the amount of P222,000 against the 2022 current appropriations of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) for the payment of college educational financial assistance grant of 37 unpaid grantees for the 2nd semester of school year 2021-2022.

The august body considered the letter dated Sept. 7, 2022 of CSWDO acting head Liza Bulayungan making the aforementioned request.

The measure reveals that to date, the city was able to release the cash assistance of 1,165 qualified grantees utilizing the 2021 budget amounting to P7,719,000 but there are 37 grantees whose assistance were not released due to their late submission of requirements.

The local legislatureโ€™s committee on appropriations and finance, cluster A, in its 2nd indorsement dated Sept. 15, 2022, recommended approval of the request and a necessary appropriation ordinance on the matter on first reading dispensing with the second and third readings in accordance with the Local Government Code of 1991, as amended. – Gaby B.
