5ID MSAB HOLDS MEETING, APPOINTS NEW CHAIR

GAMU, Isabela– Members of the Multi-Sector Advisory Board (MSAB) of the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (5ID, PA) with the presence of BGen. Audrey L Pasia, the acting commander had the 3rd Quarter Meeting on Sept. 30, 2022, purposely to discuss the updates of the Committees on Development Support Activities, Administrative System and Processes Innovation, Camp Income Generating Activities, and Strategic Communications which the members in collaboration with the Command have been working for the improvement of the camp’s performance contributory to the 5ID Strategy Map for the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR) and to install the new Chairperson.

Dr. Milagros A Rimando, the new Chair is also the President of Phil. Institute of Environmental Planners, Inc. for Northern Luzon.

During the meeting, Mr. Dionisio C Ledres, regional director of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) discussed his proposals with regard to the utilization of idle lands in 5ID. To note, 5ID has 564 hectares of land area. The “Plant a Tree for a fee”; the development of a campsite; hiking trails; and a cafeteria were some of his proposals that could generate an income.

Other matters that were brought up were the existing Cacao income-generating project launched last year spearheaded by Dr. Ricmar Aquino, president of Isabela State University, and the issues and concerns in the “pabahay” for the former rebels were discussed. BGen. Pasia asked for the intervention of NEDA regarding the matters.

The ATR accomplishments and 5ID Performance Report for the 1st Semester of Calendar Year 2022 were also presented and discussed by Col. Narciso B Nabulneg, Jr., chief of 5ID Governance Strategic Management Office.

The other MSAB members who attended the meeting personally were Dr. Ricmar Aquino, (Education Sector), Mae Barangan, publisher of Northern Sun Newsmagazine (Media Sector), and Mr. Narciso A. Edillo, regional director of the Dept. of Agriculture (Gov’t Sector) while Mr. Tony Valencia (Business Sector) Ms. Naty Sugguiyao, Mr. Cameron Odsey (Indigenous Peoples Sector), Atty.  Alfred Manzano (Legal Sector), Rev. Prudencio Andaya (Religious Sector), Ms. Jollybeth Ravana, Mr. Christopher Cacho (Youth Sector), Ms. Angely Mercado, and Ms. Helen Tibaldo (Media Sector) participated through zoom.

The MSAB members serve as a group of individuals tasked to help, provide, evaluate, and assist the division in its ATR journey.# Mae Barangan
