Another attempt to transport marijuana thwarted in Kalinga
As the result of the intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign being implemented by PROCOR cops, another possible transport of marijuana was prevented while a drug personality was busted at a police checkpoint conducted by Kalinga cops on September 29, 2022.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR, the arrested suspect was identified as Ersilias Maccay Baccoy, 36 years old, farmer, and a resident of Brgy. Butbut Proper, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
According to Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), personnel of Lubuagan Municipal Police Station (MPS), 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), and Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) received information that a private vehicle will be transporting marijuana products from Tinglayan going to Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Acting on the said information, the police operatives have established a joint checkpoint at Sitio Dinakan, Brgy. Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga.
The operation has resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the confiscation of twenty-two (22) bricks of dried Marijuana leaves and stalks with fruiting tops weighing more or less 22,000 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php 2,640,000.00.
Inventory of the pieces of evidence recovered was conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspect and witnessed by Ms. Bernadette Malayo, DOJ representative; Janette Alagao, Media representative, and Kagawad Edna D Taotao of Barangay Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga.
Further, the arrested suspects and seized contraband were brought to Lubuagan MPS for proper documentation and disposition while charges for Violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect.
