Baguio-based Muay Thai athletes commended for 3 gold medals

The City Council, during last Monday’s regular session, commended and congratulated the Baguio-based athletes and their coaches for contributing three gold and 2 silver medals for the Philippine national team during the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA) Muay Thai world Youth championship 2022 held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last August 9-21, 2022.

In a resolution, by winning their respective events, the Baguio-based athletes brought pride and glory to the city.

On August 9-21, 2022, the Muay Thai World Youth championship 2022 was held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where the Philippine national Muay Thai team returned from a successful campaign in the said competition winning a total of 9 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Further, the Philippine national team bested the delegates from the participating countries from the different parts of the world.

The Baguio-based athletes who are members of the Philippine national Muay Thai team who recently competed and represented Team Philippines contributed 3 golds and 2 silvers.

Among the Baguio-based athletes include Edel Ali P. Ngina, waikru, 14-15 years old, gold, Maimuay double 14-15 years old, gold and grand slam combat, 14-15 years old, 60-kilogram, silver; and Clark G. Fattit, maimuay double, 14-15 years old, gold and youth championship combat, 14-15 years old, 40 kilogram, silver.

The coach of the Baguio-based athletes who are members of the Philippine national Muay Thai team are Joseph Oloan, Zaide B. Laruan, Billy B. Alumno and Edzel Ngina, all coaches, Philippine national Muay Thai team. – Dexter A. See
