VIGAN CITY, 06 September 2022– Leading fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc.’s fiberization of Ilocos is at an all-time high, with service availability spread throughout the region. Presently, Converge has rolled out close to 400,000 fiber ports in Region I.
As part of its Go Deep and Go National strategy, Converge is available in smaller municipalities in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan, with presence particularly strong in Pangasinan, with fiber ports nearing 200,000 in the province.
“In terms of fiber penetration of Ilocos Region, we have covered these areas down to the barangay level so we have very high service availability there. We are now identifying which areas have a high demand for fiber for additional port rollouts,” said Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy.
To better serve its customers in the region, Converge launched its flagship Vigan business center in Rizal Street, Barangay VII. The business center will serve not only Vigan but also nearby areas in Ilocos Sur.
“The opening of the Vigan Business Center validates our promise that as we continue to grow, we remain steadfast in our commitment to our customers because their satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do as an organization, so we must ensure that they get the best possible experience. Our business center is here so that we will be able to address the needs of our customers, from application to payment to after-sales services,” said Jesus Romero, Converge’s Chief Operations Officer.
Converge also has business centers located in Laoag, Ilocos Norte and Candon, Ilocos Sur. It also has four business centers in Pangasinan (Urdaneta, Dagupan, San Carlos and Alaminos), and three in La Union (Agoo, San Fernando and Bangar).
In the first half of 2022, North Luzon captured the second highest net subscriber adds among all the operating regions. As of the first half of 2022, there are over 1.4 Million ports available for customers in the area.
Top-Rated ISP in the Philippines
Recently, Converge won the Ookla Speedtest Award for Top-Rated Fixed Network in the Philippines for the first half of 2022, reflecting the results from consumer initiated ratings during the six-month period.
Ookla®, the company behind Speedtest®, is the global leader in mobile and broadband network intelligence, testing applications, and related technologies.
The Top Rated Awards is part of the semi-annual Speedtest Awards, presented by Ookla.
“It’s a reflection of the customer’s total experience in terms of the quality of service, not just raw speed. It’s also a measure of satisfaction so this indicates the customers are happy with the service we provide,” said Romero.
“This also validates our network design. With our network, you have high speed, low latency, and very low jitter, this is perfect for two things: Gaming and video. A lot of Filipinos play online games and we’re working on peering to get to these websites at the fastest possible time. Video streaming, on the other hand, requires not only high speed but low jitter,” added Romero.
Even with its investment in its fiber network and its aggressive expansion nationwide, Converge ensures that it is able to give the best value to customers.
Last June, the company upgraded the speed of its base FiberX internet plan from 50Mbps to 100Mbps for all customers, making it faster than the country’s median average.
The expansion of Converge in North Luzon is in support of President Marcos’ call for universal connectivity in the country, as highlighted in his first State of the Nation Address last July 25.
President Marcos pushed for the use of all means of digital transport in order to establish inter-island digital connectivity may it be terrestrial, submarine fiber optics, wireless, or satellite technology.
