City hails local athlete for bronze medal feat in ASEAN Para Games

Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified city council resolution no. 333, series of 2022, congratulating and commending Agustina M. Bantiloc for winning a bronze medal in the compound mixed team archery event during the 11th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Para Games held on July 30 to August 6, 2022 in Surakarta, Indonesia.

Commonly known as Surakarta 2022, it is a biannual multi-sport event for athletes with physical disabilities and participated by 2,309 delegates composed of 1,648 athletes and 661 officials from 11 countries in Southeast Asia.

These include  Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam and the Philippines.

The approved measure states that the Philippines ranked fifth in this year’s Para Games having garnered a total of 104 medals consisting of 28 golds, 30 silvers and 46 bronze medals.

Bantiloc is a home-grown member of the Philippine Para Archery Team, the resolution reveals.

“Her achievement has brought pride and glory to the community of persons with disabilities (PWDs) and to the City of Baguio,” it states. – Gaby B. Keith
