PROCOR activates all its units to respond after the earthquake

Staying true to the line from the PROCOR Hymn “Ever steadfast to the call of duty”, the able-bodied men and women of the Police Regional Office Cordillera have once again demonstrated preparedness and timely disaster response that goes far beyond guns and badges after immediately providing police response to the residents who are affected by the recent earthquake.

Acting on the instructions of PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD O LEE, personnel of PROCOR were immediately deployed to help in the rescue and road clearing operations in the aftermath of the earthquake.

All Provincial Directors from the provincial offices of PROCOR are now on the ground to administer and provide all the necessary police assistance to the affected communities. Immediately, 211 Search and Rescue (SAR) trained personnel were deployed while 2,044 personnel were activated as Reactionary Standby Support Forces.

According to the latest reports, PBGEN LEE disclosed that 854 residents were already evacuated; 113 are reported injured with 4 casualties; 146 infrastructures were reported damaged; 35 areas don’t have electricity; 31 national and local roads are not passable.

As of the press time, the collaborative effort of the police is mainly focused on rescuing and ensuring that help continues to reach the most affected families.
