Urgent appeal for support to Earthquake-affected areas in the Cordillera.

The Serve the People Brigade (STPB) – Cordillera appeals for support for communities in the Cordillera affected by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake last July 27, 2022.

At 8:43 in the morning of July 27, Luzon was struck by an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 with an epicenter at Tayum, Abra. Since then, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has recorded hundreds of weak and strong aftershocks throughout Luzon, especially in Abra and neighboring provinces. As of July 28, there have been 5 fatalities brought by the earthquake (2 in Benguet, 1 in Mt. Province, 1 in Kalinga, 1 in Abra, and 1 in Cagayan), 64 injured, and hundreds of individuals displaced or evacuated. At least 133 houses and buildings were damaged and a number of main highways to and from communities are closed to traffic due to landslides.

The STPB – Cordillera is humbly calling on all families, friends, allies, and concerned citizens in the Philippines and abroad for support in this time of emergency and disaster. STPB will be conducting relief missions and rehabilitation support. Any kind of help extended will go a long way in supporting victims of the earthquake in the region.

For relief goods and material donations, we solicit the following:

• drinking water

• food supplies (rice, canned goods, noodles, biscuits, cooking oil, etc.)

• toiletries

• clothing

• blankets and sleeping mats

• medicine

• flashlight with batteries

• tents (or materials for temporary shelter)

• materials for the house and farm repairs
