The Summer Capital continues to have a robust supply of Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines according to City Health Services Office head Dr. Rowena Galpo.

During the regular management committee meeting of city officials led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong at City Hall, July 19, she said that the city currently has a total vaccine supply of 82,545 with Pfizer for 12 years old and above at 41,586 doses.

The city government still has 25,460 doses of Astra Zeneca; Pfizer for 5-11 years old, 10,730; Moderna, 1,490; and 3,279 doses of Sinovac, she disclosed.

As to the city’s Covid-19 variants of concern, by type, as of July 2, Galpo revealed that most cases (39 percent) are infected with Omicron; Delta, 34 percent; Alpha, 18 percent; and the Beta variant with nine percent of the total infections.

Galpo disclosed a July 6 Department of Health memorandum that is pushing for a 90 percent vaccination coverage for primary series of the country’s A2 (senior citizens) population and a 50 percent coverage for first booster of the general population on or before Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s first 100 days in office (October 8, 2022).

Mayor has earlier echoed the President’s call for the public to have their booster shots as an added layer of protection against the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. – Gaby B. Keith
