City Library in need of volunteers

The City library is calling on interested volunteers to help in the delivery of services to the regular visitors of the facility.

City librarian Easter Pablo stated the graduates of the course library science and other courses are welcome to serve as volunteers in the community library for them to acquire the needed experience while awaiting the results of their board examinations or their filed applications.

At present, she claimed that there are 4 adult and 2 senior high school volunteers that are assisting the city library personnel in managing the daily activities in the said facility.

However, Pablo stipulated that more volunteers are still needed to cater to the needs of the increasing number of library visitors following the easing up of community quarantine restrictions that allowed people to be able to go out of their houses and move around.

The city librarian emphasized that the volunteers will also be able to help in the conduct of the regular Storytelling At the children’s park every Saturday as the city library needs more storytellers to assist the current personnel to sustain the conduct of the said activity.

She noted that there is also an increasing number of children joining the Story Telling at the Park that is why the city library is empowered to sustain the conduct of the said activity for the benefit of the park goers for them to have added learning opportunities while enjoying their stay in the city’s premier park.

Last July 2, 2022, the City Library started to implement its new schedule of operation which will be from Mondays to Saturdays, 8 am to 5 pm, as part of its initial compliance to an ordinance modernizing the said facility.

Pablo explained that the City Library cannot yet operate until 10 pm daily as provided in the aforesaid ordinance because of the lack of sufficient personnel and the prevailing implementation of certain community quarantine restrictions aside from the implementation of the minimum public health standards to prevent the future surges in Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 cases. – Dexter A.
