Baguio receives award for high vaccination rate

Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Health Services Office (HSO) head Dr. Rowena Galpo, Assistant head and vaccination operation lead Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes and HSO key personnel received the Binnadang Para sa Resbakuna award June 23, Thursday, at the Baguio Convention Center.

Presenting the Plaque of Recognition were Department of Health (DOH) Regional Director Rio Magpantay, Assistant RD Amelita Pangilinan, and other DOH personalities. DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje later joined the ceremonies.

The city gained a Hundred Thousand Pesos for “Exemplary performance and relentless effort in the implementation of a Local |Government Unit (LGU)-led Covid-19 vaccination program operation,” while fifty thousand was given to the city for high senior citizens vaccination coverage; both the highest in the region.

Other provinces of the Cordillera also received awards and citations during the ceremonies which honored the efforts of workers for vaccination in the region, “to help ward off Covid-19, and hopefully end the two-year pandemic.” 

The awards were given in line with “Recognizing and Celebrating the Cordillera Spirit of Solidarity for Covid-19 Vaccination,”

The city with committed and dedicated health workers still opens health facilities and continues vaccination for the first and second dose, and first and second booster shot for adults and the pediatric population.
