School beneficiaries laud POSD’s community service program initiatives
The Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) Community Service Task Force led by Deputy Chief Daryll Kim Longid continues to serve the community through their own “Brigada Eskwela” initiatives in the different schools in Baguio City.
The Community Service Task Force is made up of eight team members who have been doing community service since February this year and have been providing manpower and funding for some materials to various schools coming from the city government under Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
Three schools were successfully served and helped namely Guisad Valley National High School, Joaquin-Smith National High School and Baguio City Special Education Center.
Various projects and repairs are still underway at San Carlos Heights Elementary School, Gibraltar Elementary School and Idogan and San Carlos Heights Covered Court.
Among the services provided by the task force are railing construction and repair, gutter repair, wiring, ceiling fan installation, canal cover construction, painting, steel window construction and roof repair.
School and community beneficiaries lauded the services extended by the task force.
Ms. Luz F. Soriano, principal of San Carlos Heights Elementary School, spoke highly of the team for its initiative, resourcefulness and positivity.
According to her, the task force is a huge help since they do not have enough funds for labor in repairing and renovating school facilities.
The community service is supposed to end this month but Longid said they plan to keep it going by scheduling one week of community service each month on top of their regular duties. – Nene Cadiog and Rainzee Bantiding/PIO interns
