SAN MATEO, Isabela- The Isabela State University (ISU) President Dr. Ricmar P Aquino, also the current Commander of 202nd Ready Reserve Battalion and a member of the Multi-Sector Advisory Board of the 5th Infantry Division in Brgy. Upi, Gamu, Isabela in an exclusive interview said he is against the academic walkout echoed on the social media a day after the election on May 9, 2022 wherein Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. took the lead in the presidential bid with an overwhelming number of votes as of this writing.

“There is no reason for ISU to allow academic walkout. That would not be good on the part of the students as they will be missing their classes considering that the ISU is still implementing the limited face-to-face classes and still catching up due to the CoVid-19 pandemic,” Aquino said.

ISU is a comprehensive state university in the Cagayan Valley by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1434 by the then Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr. It has campuses in Echague (main), Cabagan, Cauayan, City of Ilagan, Roxas, Angadanan, Jones, San Mateo, San Mariano and Santiago Extension. It was adjudged as 1st among the Higher Education Institutions in the Cagayan Valley and had Level 2 recognition for proficiency in Quality Management. The City of Ilagan campus ranked No. 1 Top Performing school due to the 100% passing rate in the Midwifery Licensure examination in April 2022.

“We want our students to complete their degrees on time so they can immediately find employment and start a bright future”, said Aquino.

He also urged everyone to continue educating and preparing the youth for their future.

“The future of our country also depends on the preparedness of the youth through quality and relevant education for nation-building”, he added.

Meanwhile, more or less 50 youths staged a lightning rally at the Queen Isabela Park in Brgy. Alibagu, City of Ilagan, Isabela in the afternoon of May 10, 2022.
