LTFRB 2 launches 11 taxi units in the City of Ilagan

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela- The Land Transportation and Franchise Regulatory Board-Region 2 (LTFRB 2) with the Isabela Public Utility Transport Cooperative (IPUTC) launched on May 04, 2022, 11 units of taxis that will transport the riding public to any point of Region 2. The provisional authority was awarded to the IPUTC during the program. This means that they can travel the routes they applied for in accordance with the existing law set by LTFRB.

The said activity was part of the 366th Founding Anniversary celebration of the City of Ilagan.

According to Geraldine Callangan, LTFRB Region 2 Chief Transportation Development Officer, the 11 units were the initial release from the total of 30 taxi units approved by LTFRB 2.

The flag-down rate costs 40 pesos.

City Mayor Hon. Josemarie L Diaz in his speech thanked the LTFRB 2 for their constant support of the cooperative’s modernization program in the public transport.

Meanwhile, the commuters continue to take advantage as Department of Transportation DOTr and LTFRB’s Service Contracting Phase 3 dubbed as “Libreng Sakay” added more routes. In Cagayan the routes are: Tuguegarao-Enrile; Claveria-Abulug; Abulug-Gattaran; Claveria-Jct. Luna Cagayan; Aparri-Magapit, Lallo. In Isabela: Cauayan-Ilagan; Cauayan-Ilagan; San Mateo-Cauayan; Santiago-San Mateo; and Jones-Santiago. For Nueva Vizcaya: Santiago, Isabela-Solano and Bambang-Solano; and in Quirino: Cabarroguis, Quirino-Santiago City, Isabela and Cabbarougis-Maddela. All travel starts from 6AM to 7PM.

According to Edward L. Cabase, LTFRB 2 director, there were already 67,304 commuters that were served since Apr. 20-May 3, 2022.

The “Libreng Sakay” was implemented in accordance with the marching order of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to help the commuters, operators, and drivers.#  Mae Barangan /FNS
