CSWDO gives psychological first aid to 5,034 residents; 15,276 food packs in 1st quarter

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) led by acting head Liza Bulayungan provided psychological first aid (PFA) to 5,034 clients related to coronavirus disease 2019 cases through its Family Welfare Program in the first quarter of this year.

During flag-raising rites, April 25, at City Hall, CSWDO administrative officer IV Nestor Mestito said that aside from the PFA, some of the families were given family food packs and other services like financial assistance.

He disclosed that a total of 15,276 food packs were distributed in the Summer Capital in 2022 with 7,788 provided by the city government and 7,488 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development that benefited 5,514 families.

Majority of the beneficiaries were related to Covid-19 cases while the others were families in crisis due to man-made calamities like fire and also those who continue to struggle to cope with the economic hardships caused by the ongoing pandemic, Mestito said.

Meanwhile, he claimed that clients in the solo parent category remains a priority of the CSWDO with the city’s organized Solo Parents Organizations serving as support groups to assist those coping with the challenges of rearing their children on their own.

Mestito said that for the same period, a total of 311 individuals were issued solo parent identification cards (IDs) of which 179 were new applicants and 132 were for renewal. – Gaby B. Keith
