BCPO says 113 barangays are ‘drug-cleared’
Of the Summer Capital’s 128 barangays, 113 are currently drug-cleared; 11 are under drug clearing operations and four of the barangays are unaffected.
This was disclosed by Baguio City Police Office community affairs division chief Judy Jasmin Palicos during the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council’s first quarter meeting, Meeting 23, chaired by Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
Palicos said the drug affected barangays are Lourdes Subdivision Extension, Dominican Hill, Fairview, Pinget, Lower Magsaysay, Sto. Nino Slaughter, Gibraltar, Loakan Proper, Kayang Extension, Irisan, and Barangay Central barangay.
She revealed that from October to December 2021, the BCPO conducted a total of 42 anti-illegal drugs operations with 37 buy busts; one service of search warrant; and four service of warrants of arrest.
From January 1 to March 20, this year, meanwhile, her office conducted 39 operations including 38 buy bust activities and one service of search warrant.
Palicos said the BCPO seized drug evidence valued at P703,696 including 95 grams of shabu and 480.8 grams of marijuana from October 1 to December 31, last year, while P449,663 worth of drug evidence was seized from January 1 to March 20, 2022, including 62.66 grams of shabu; 141 grams of marijuana and 60 ml of marijuana oil.
The mayor, who is also CADAC chair, encouraged those present to continue working together with the government in sustaining the city’s anti-illegal drugs campaign and make Baguio a ‘drug-free city’.
Also in the meeting facilitated by the City Mayor’ Office’s Special Services Division were BCPO Dir. P/Col. Glenn Lonogan, DILG0-Baguio Office Dir. Evelyn Trinidad, City Mayor’s Office executive assistant Benjamin Macadangdang, local barangay officials, and representatives of various concerned agencies and non-government organizations. – Gaby B.
