City donates thousands of Covid-19 vaccines to other LGUs
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said that due to the Summer Capital’s ample supply of coronavirus disease 2019 vaccines coupled with its high vaccination rate, the city government has already donated around 100,000 of the vaccines to other local government units in the country.
He said the city has donated to Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, several provinces of Region III including Nueva Ecija, and more.
The Mayor said the city will also donate to several other provinces in Region IV that are also asking for vaccines and is open to give to other LGUs who are in need.
“The city government will continue to donate vaccines to other LGUs that may need these even to those in the Visayas and Mindanao. Makakatulong tayo sa ating mga kababayan,” the Mayor said.
He revealed that the city has more than enough supply of vaccines and that some private companies have even expressed their willingness to give the city thousands more, especially Moderna vaccines.
Earlier, City Health Services Office head Dr. Rowena Galpo disclosed that the city has a supply of 78,549 Covid-19 vaccines as of March 7.
Of the total, she said Astra Zeneca accounted for 30,190 of the vaccines; Pfizer, 30,624; Moderna, 8,650; Sinovac, 6,319; and Gamaleya with 1,766 remaining vaccines. – Gaby B. Keith
