5ID MSAB MEMBERS HOLDS 2023 2nd Quarter Meeting

5ID HEADQUARTERS, Upi, Gamu, Isabela– The Multi-sector Advisory Board (MSAB) members of the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (5ID, PA) held its 2nd Quarter meeting of the year at the Conference Hall here on June 29, 2023.

MGen. Audrey L. Pasia, 5ID commander and Dr. Milagros Rimando, 5ID MSAB chairperson led the meeting that sectoral representatives personally attended- Dionisio Ledres (government); Naty Sugguiyao (Indigenous Peoples); Mae Barangan (media); Angely Mercado (media); and Jollybeth Malab (youth). Joining virtually were Christopher John Cacho  (youth); Atty. Alfred Manzano (legal) and Helen Tibaldo (media).

During the meeting, the updates on the recently launched income-generating project of the 5ID MSAB which is the opening of Tala Eco-Park. The concept of this project is the opening of the camp to the public. Aside from the park, the museum, bike trail, floating hut, station of the cross, IP Village, golf course and basic rappelling were the attractions inside the camp that both local and national tourists can see and experience. According to the presenter, there were already plenty of civilians who visited the place. In this regard, the body discussed the possibility of collecting minimal fees from the visitors to maintain the budding tourist attraction within the camp.

New protocols and the creation of the Legal and Diplomatic sector which will be under the Development Support Committee was also been agreed upon.

Moreover, MGen. Pasia delivered a short lecture regarding the accomplishment of the division with regard to the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC). He said that several armed groups in Isabela were already dismantled and the remaining have transferred to Cagayan. He said that the armed group is the jewel of the revolution. Thus, the dismantling through the help of the stakeholders made a big difference to the campaign.

In his closing remarks, he expressed his gratitude for the support of the 5ID MSAB members to the division.

Meanwhile, on the same occasion, Sugguiyao and Malab surprisingly expressed their resignation from being members of the 5ID MSAB.

Sugguiyao said her resignation was due to her long-term residence in the USA while Malab was due to her civil status to which she no longer sees herself representing the youth sector since she was already married and has two kids.

Sugguiyao was a 5ID MSAB member since 2014 and Malab since 2016.# MAE BARANGAN
