4 Baguio-based archers leaves for 11th ASEAN Para Games
The city will be fielding four home-growth archers and one coach as part of the Philippine Para Archery team that will compete in the ongoing 11th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Para Games from July 26 to August 7, 2022 in Solo, Indonesia.
The 11-athlete Philippine Para Archery Team will be part of the Philippine Paralympic Committee–Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled (PPC-PhilSPADA) that will be actively participating in the prestigious competition.
The local archers include Agustina Bantiloc, Giovanni M. Ola, Elizabeth Bayla and William Cablog while the coach will be John Hongitan.
The team already left the country last July 24, 2022 and will be staying in Indonesia for the duration of the Para Games.
Further, the team will not only be representing the city but also the country in the regular Para Games with the hope these local archers will bring home coveted medals from competition.
During the previous Para Games, the local archers had been consistent members of the national team fielded by the organization in national, regional and international sports events for the differently abled persons.
On behalf of the athletes and coach from the city, Hongitan solicited the prayers of the people and officialdom of the city for their successful participation in the 11th ASEAN Para Games for them to continue bringing honor and pride to Baguio City. – Dexter A. See
