’30 couples join mass wedding rites

Some thirty partners will tie the knot during the mass wedding ceremony sponsored by the local government which will be held in a hotel along Naguilian road on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
Coralie Dulnuan, Social Welfare Officer II of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, said that the mass wedding is being spearheaded by the Local Civil Registry Office in partnership with other offices of the local government and is one of the activities that will commence the celebration of the Civil Registration month and the Marriage Week.
She added that the partners who will be officially declared as husbands and wives during the ceremony had been living in for some time and decided to vilify the mass wedding being offered by the local government to formalize their relationships.
The social welfare officer claimed that the partners were also able to undergo the required marriage counselling and other related seminars to qualify for the mass wedding rites.
The sponsors of the mass wedding ceremony are city officials and other concerned individuals willing to serve as the second parents of the couples.
Dulnuan called on partners who want to get married to re-think their plans because there is no turning back as marriage is a lifetime commitment of the involved individual.
The mass wedding has been an institutionalized activity of the local government for the celebration of both the Civil Registration month this February and the Marriage Week every February 7-14.
She urged other partners who are living together to avail of the mass wedding being offered by the local government not only during February but also in other months of the year so that they will formalize their relationship and for them to be able to legitimize their children.
The 30 partners were the ones that were able to comply with the documentary requirements of the mass wedding during the prescribed deadline and proceeded to undergo the other related activities until the scheduled ceremony that will be officiated by the local chief executive. – Dexter A. See
