1405th CDC holds graduation rites for new reservists in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga—A total of 120 civilians were recognized as new Army Reservists during the graduation ceremony of BCMT CL 03-2024 “Malakas” on February 16, 2025, at Rev. Mike Haelterman’s Gymnasium, St. Louis College of Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga. BCMT Popong B. Dalimag, president of BCMT CL 03-2024 ranked No. 1. and was given an award for Best in Physical Fitness.  

The reservists underwent a rigid 45-day Basic Citizen’s Military Training, marking a significant milestone in their commitment to national service.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed reservist officers with Maj. Gen. Gulliver L. Señires as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, represented by Col. Camilo Sadam. The new graduates will now serve as Army Reservists under the 1405th Community Defense Group of the 14th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command.

Among the graduates were professionals from various fields, including lawyers, doctors, and politicians, underscoring the diverse backgrounds of those willing to dedicate themselves to national defense and service. Their addition to the reserve force enhances the country’s capability to respond to emergencies and crises.

During his address, LTC Alfredo T. Loy-od Jr., the training director, emphasized the significance of reservists in ensuring the security and stability of the nation. He reminded the graduates of their duties and responsibilities to the country and its people, urging them to uphold the values of service, discipline, and patriotism.

Atty. Minerva R. Magtanao-Taguinod, one of the graduates said “The training was an enjoyable experience, vastly different from my work as a litigator.”

Atty. Taguinod is the Governor of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Northern Luzon Region.

After graduation was a boodle fight, marking the batch’s first meal as newly minted Army Reservists, prepared to serve their country when called upon.# Mae Barangan
