The Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) seized a total of PhP3,600,000.00 worth of illegal drugs and arrested a high-value drug personality during the anti-illegal drug operations conducted in the provinces of Kalinga and Benguet on October 3, 2024.

In Kalinga, 29 dried marijuana bricks weighing approximately 29,000 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP3,480,000.00 were confiscated, and a 34-year-old male, identified as a High-Value Individual, was arrested during the buy-bust operation conducted by the joint operatives of the Special Operations Unit CAR, Rizal Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Kalinga in Brgy. Santor, Rizal.

The arrested suspect was brought to the custody of Rizal MPS for temporary detention, while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against him. Further, the seized illegal drugs were turned over to the Provincial Forensic Unit Kalinga for laboratory examination.

Meanwhile, in Benguet, approximately 600 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants with an SDP of PhP120,000.00 were discovered in a 200-square-meter plantation site in Brgy. Kayapa, Bakun during the marijuana eradication operation conducted by the joint operatives of Kapangan MPS, 2nd Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company, PDEU and PIU of Benguet PPO, and PDEA-Benguet.
