A total of PhP10,918,200.00 worth of illegal drugs were seized and one drug personality was arrested during a series of anti-illegal drug operations launched by the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) Cops in the provinces of Kalinga and Benguet, and Baguio City on September 19, 2024.
In Kalinga, approximately 50,000 pieces of Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJP) with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP10,000,000.00 were discovered during the marijuana eradication operation conducted by the joint operatives of the 1st and 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company, Tinglayan Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Kalinga in a communal forest in Brgy. Basao, Tinglayan.
Meanwhile, in Benguet, the same nature of operation was also conducted by the joint operatives of Bakun MPS, Kibungan MPS, PIU and PDEU of Benguet PPO, Regional Intelligence Division, and PDEA-CAR that led to the discovery of marijuana plantation sites in Brgy. Kayapa, Bakun, and Brgy. Tacadang, Kibungan planted with 4,000 pieces of FGMJP and 2,700 pieces of marijuana seedlings with an overall SDP of PhP908,000.00.
All the discovered marijuana plants were documented, uprooted, and burned onsite, with enough samples taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-CAR.
Additionally, in Baguio City, a 29-year-old male, identified as a High Value Individual, was arrested in Brgy. Rizal Monument following the buy-bust operation conducted by the joint operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), City Intelligence Unit, and Police Station 7 of Baguio City Police Office.
During the said operation, the operatives seized four sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 1.5 grams with an SDP of PhP10,200.00 from the suspect.
The suspect and the seized pieces of evidence were brought to the CDEU for documentation and proper disposition, while a case for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being prepared against him. (PRO-CAR PIO / File Photos)
